MiteGuard covers should be fitted to your mattress, duvet and pillow. Your usual outer sheets and covers are then fitted over the top of the MiteGuard covers. Regular (weekly) washing of the outer sheets and covers in hot water (>55C) will maintain a low allergen environment in the bed.

All covers share the following features:

Covers are manufactured in two different types of fabric, all equally as effective as house dust mite allergen barriers but differing in levels of comfort and lifespan:

MiteGuard2 Ultra Premium covers are made from the newly developed UltraGuard precision microweave fabric, a synthetic material with an exceptionally accurate weave made from microfibre yarns, resulting in a very small pore size and yet a greater airflow than other Premium fabrics.

Before precision microweave fabrics were developed, allergen barrier fabrics were made by applying a polyurethane coating to normal bed sheeting materials which, although they prevented allergen particles coming through, allowed little or no air to pass through.   These older fabrics were less comfortable, took a long time to dry after washing and had a more limited lifespan compared to microweave woven fabrics.
