Hi, You're receiving this email because {name} thinks the Anapen 300 Adrenaline Auto-Injector OUT OF STOCK would interest you.
We have been advised by Link Healthcare that the Anapen 150 adrenaline auto-injectors are out of stock indefinitely in New Zealand.  A limited amount of stock of the Anapen 300 strength is still available.

Current Anapen auto-injectors are able to be used for the emergency treatment of anaphylaxis within their expiry date.
More information is available through Allergy New Zealand’s website www.allergy.org.nz

Anapen for Adult and older child use (above 30kg bodyweight). For treatment of anaphylactic reaction. Your doctor may recommend the adult strength to be used for children under 30 kg, click here for details.

Please be aware that Anapen uses a slightly different administration technique to Epipen.  We strongly advise you to familiarise yourself with this technique.

Adrenaline is the first line of treatment in life-threatening allergic reactions (anaphylaxis). In this situation the airways may narrow making it more difficult to breathe. One of the most important effects of adrenaline is to open up the airways to ease breathing. A second important effect is the narrowing of blood vessels which prevents or reverses falls in blood pressure. As anaphylactic reactions (life-threatening allergic reactions) can develop within minutes of exposure to the trigger factor (which could be a bite or sting, food e.g. peanuts, drug or other substance) individuals who are at risk are often advised to carry an automatic injection device such as the Anapen which can be used to delivery a dose very rapidly.

Auto-injectors should ONLY be injected into the side of the thigh. Do NOT inject into the buttocks. This medicine should be used with caution during pregnancy, and only if the expected benefit to the mother is greater than any possible risk to the foetus. Seek medical advice from your doctor. Accidental injection into the hands or feet may result in loss of blood flow to the affected area and should be avoided. If there is an accidental injection into these areas, emergency treatment should be sought.

As this medicine is classified as a "Pharmacist Only" medicine you are required to fill in some details about your condition at check out. This will enable the pharmacist to ensure this medicine is appropriate for you. We will be in contact with you if we require further information.
